From Independent to Interconnected: The Strength in Receiving

Many women are naturals at giving. We nourish, we nurture, and we pour ourselves into others with ease. But when it comes to receiving? That often feels far less comfortable.

In fact, most women I ask will quickly identify themselves as givers. Yet, if we want to step into our dreams and truly experience the goals that live in our hearts, we must learn the art of receiving.

Why Receiving Feels So Hard

For years, I identified as the fiercely independent woman. I could carry the heavy boxes, figure things out on my own, and keep moving without needing to ask for help. It made me capable, but it also left little space for others to support me.

The shift came when I realized that independence, while valuable, isn’t the same as connection. True partnership, whether in relationships or in life’s bigger dreams, requires allowing others to show up for us.

Practicing the Art of Receiving

Receiving doesn’t always come naturally, but it can be practiced. For me, it started small, waiting for someone else to open the door, pausing to let a new client offer to buy me coffee, saying yes when a neighbor wanted to help.

These small moments of receiving felt awkward at first, but they slowly created a new pattern: one where I wasn’t the only giver, but someone open to support and partnership.

And the more I practiced, the more momentum flowed. Opportunities opened, relationships deepened, and eventually, I stepped into a life that reflected both giving and receiving.

Why This Matters

If you’re holding big dreams, you cannot carry them alone. Allow others to bring their gifts, time, and energy into your journey. When you practice receiving, you invite equal partnership, ease, and joy into your life.

This is also the work at the heart of Good Girl to Iconic Woman. Moving from “I can do it all myself” into a place of flow, trust, and aligned support is how women step into their most iconic selves.
